Today at the Jersey Cape Day Program, our participants had a blast exploring the science of weather! The lesson covered how weather is predicted and measured, including fascinating insights into wind speed and its role in our environment. Everyone got hands-on experience when they created their very own wind speed turbines—an activity that sparked curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of smiles.
This activity tied in perfectly with a recent field trip to the ACUA Wind Turbine Farm, where participants got to see wind turbines in action. We learned how the turbines produce energy and, most importantly, that they are not harmful to birds—vehicles are actually more dangerous to them! It was exciting to connect what they saw on the field trip with what they created and learned in the classroom.
At Jersey Cape, we believe that education and environmental awareness go hand in hand. Encouraging our participants to understand and care for the world around them not only nurtures curiosity and learning but also helps build a community that values sustainability, innovation, and informed decision-making. By combining fun, hands-on activities with real-world experiences, we empower everyone in our programs to explore, learn, and grow.
